Audio Drivers:
Since there are no best single driver available, you have to follow this step carefully.

1. Install MS-UAA first:
Windows XP, XP SP2: Download  (KB888111)
Windows XP SP3: Download  (KB835221)

Restart and then install audio drivers below.

2. Install the Audio:
IDT High Definition Audio Codec
(2 drivers, if the first one didn't work, use 2nd drivers)
Download (SP41693)
Download (SP39671)

 If resulting in error, ignore it and proceed  by manually install the drivers:

Download and install the driver, you will get the error while  installing.
Perform the below steps to fix the issue.
1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click  Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location".
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to  install".
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from  the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp39671 folder and select the .inf   file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.

1. If  you have 7 unknown device, download this file, extract, then right lick on the inf file and select install(Machine.inf)

FOR NVDIA: if  the driver above resulting in error use modded driver below:
3-step  process to install:
1. Download driver, double click and select  extract,
2. Download modded INF and replace original INF in  extracted folder,
3. Install and  reboot

    i am in a serious problem with regard's to my compaq presario cq40 506-tu notebook drivers.
    i tried to find the drivers on your blog i got it but nothing really worked.
    i will give u the details please help me.!

    mainly i am having problem with my audio device.
    however i have had many drivers downloaded and installed but nothing seem to work.!
    i am using XP(professional) sp2.
    when i am click the device manager sound ,video and game controllers i dont see a yellow sign (which means my driver are installed properly and working) -- and i think everything is working but when i click on the properties --sound audio devices i cannot access anything no enable no disable nothing.!! wierd.
    kindly--give me the complete software downloads and the installation procedure.

  6. hi vicky,
    installing many drivers can result in unstable system, here are my suggestions to solve your problem.
    Before we proceed plz check your audio panel(advance) and make sure nothing mute.
    Try to play any mp3 in the Windows Media Player, if it play but no sound means your XP installation is missing files(corrupt) and you need to reinstall windows XP. If reformating doesn't fix i afraid it's a hardware problem (replacing it not cost much and you can afford that)
    Also make sure you install netframework2.0

    In other hand,
    Unistall your current sound drivers
    Install the driver i gave above.
    If this drivers didn't work unistall and install the driver you installed erlier.

    I have the same problems like you and i reformat the lappy and install the driver i have. any update reply to my mail.

  7. i had a problem regarding the vga driver already run latest driver but it still not working on code 37 why?
    this effect could be like my screen shaking and got line on taskbar is now what i facing...
    is it because of my driver,window or the laptop is in problem??
    im using window xp professional last time my audio gone and thx to u i got it i hope u could help or give a hint in wat i had...thx
