    2. I have windows xp sp3 and I can't seem to make the WiFi work. I went to device manager and it seems that it only recognized the Atheros, but still I can't see any of the WiFi network, nor do I have any program to actually look for WiFi. (the wifi light is on).

P.S. In device manager it didn't recognize any of the other 2 wifi drivers. I'll try again tomorrow from the start.

      3. Select5 "browse my computer..."
      4. Select " DOn't Search i will choose..."

  4. I see there are 4 .inf files there. Tried each of them. Gives me an error 'Cannot install this hardware'.

Driver is not intended for this platform.

I extracted the files on the PC i'm writing this from, because I don't have winzip on the other one. Is that a problem ? I then copied the folder, extracted into 'C:'.

    1. first extract with other pc is not a problem,
Driver is not intended for this platform - this error normally refer to different OS X86 (32 bit) or X64(64 bit).
I prefer windows XP SP2 since personally from my experience it is the most stable version.
On more thing, your windows is 32 bit or 64-bit?

  5. It is 32bit ( x86) SP3. I'll get vista and SP2 tomorrow and see to which one I will stick to.

  6. I did install Windows XP SP2. I have been succesful in installing the Audio Driver, and that is pretty good. Now I am working on finding a driver for this Atheros AR5007 WiFi Adapter. It gives me a Code 39 error though ( driver may be corrupted when missing when I update it from where it is extracted).

  7. A random fix just occured. I was ready to reinstall the XP SP2 again, when I said to myself I should try and fix it first.
So it seems I have the AR5006X, not the AR5007. I updated the driver and it found the right one in the PC. I guess it was one of the drivers you gave to me in here, but right now I am way too excited/frightened to tell you exactly which one. I will come back in one week or so and tell you which one was it :)

    1. thanks for the update, something i would like to share here, note that an atheros drivers not only support a single driver but support lots of atheros adapter, say the link i gave to you, if you open the INF file, just scroll down and you will see the list of the supported adapter.

To manually select which adapter to use, using update driver in device manager - advance - don't search let me choose... - have disk - browse and select the inf file in the driver folder, then untick the "show compatible hardware" you will see more than one driver available. You may experiment with that too but make sure to make restore point first.
I'll be waiting for your updates.
