Acer WiFi/Wireless LAN Drivers for Windows 7/8/8.1/10 (32-bit, 64-bit)

WiFi/Wireless Drivers (32-bit, 64-bit)

Acer produces their model with variation of WiFi cards and the reason could be base on region or other factors. Acer Notebook commonly uses Intel, Atheros or Broadcom WiFi card. In certain cases they use Ralink and several current model (2018 and above) uses Realtek. Atheros also known as Qualcomm Atheros and Ralink also known as Mediatek.


Identify the correct WiFi/Wireless Drivers.

First you need to identify which WiFi drivers you need to install. 
Open device manager (right click on windows icon and select device manager).
Click on Network Adapter to expand the list.
You should see the wireless vendor name displayed on the list.

If it only shows network controller with exclamation mark or 802.11n Wireless card. Then,

Right click on the network controller and select properties.
Click on Details Tab on the top panel.
On the drop down menu select Hardware ID.

Copy and paste the hardware ID on Google search you will find most of the result will display the same Wireless vendor. Check out my post on how to check hardware ID.


Acer Wifi /Wireless Drivers fo Windows
Acer did not list drivers base on hardware, but base on Models, so here I make the list of WiFi/Wireless drivers provide by Acer. (All links are from Acer Server).

Model released before Windows 8 (before 2012).
Normally the model name "Acer Aspire" and followed by 4 numbers such as "4735"

      it just a card reader driver, you can ignore it if you does not want to use it.
      you can also install the driver directly from realtek:

      You can identify which to install using hardware ID, just google your hardware ID and it will tell which driver you need to install

      It is a secondary network connection, and it is a virtual network which means it does not affect you main wireless connection. It commonly use to connect with second network such as ad-hoc connection. If you does not use it you can right click on it and select disable. If you want to install it, right lcik on it and select uninstall, restart and windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

      I'm assuming you have the Acer Aspire 4520 (without s) because another variant is Acer Aspire 4520g. Acer provide support for Windows XP , Vista and 7 for this model but for Windows 7 Acer did not provide any drivers because Normally Windows 7 automatically installed the driver.

      In case you need the driver (if your wireless not working), make sure to turn on the wireless first (using fn key) just to double check.

      There are two type of wireless card for this model, it is either Atheros or Broadcom.

      Download and extract the original Windows Vista drivers and right click then select properties.
      Then select compatibility and select Windows Vista.
      Right click on setup file and select run as administrator.
      Does not matter if installation is success or failed, restart your laptop.
      If the Wireless still does not work :
      1. Open device manager.
      2. Look for Network with exclamation mark.
      3. Right click and select update driver.
      4. Browse my computer...
      5. Don't search, let me pick..
      6. Select have disk, and browse to the extracted driver folder.
      7. Select the inf file and proceed with the installation.

      Your laptop uses either Intel or Atheros wireless, Atheros is the common one so I go with that first:

      use original windows 7 drivers, download and install in compatibility mode for windows 7. Here are the original drives (test which work):

    I've followed your guideline and was able to install the Atheros Wifi Wireless on my laptop, Acer Aspire E11 running on Window 8.1 Pro. It's running well so far.
    Last 2 months I've accidentally uninstalled the one on my laptop, so I had to use the cable, and it was cumbersome.
