Easy steps to Enable AHCI Mode in Windows 10/11

This is step by step on how to enable AHCI mode after installing windows which would result faster boot time and better performance.

The trick is to enable AHCI in BIOS and boot to safe mode for the fisrt time. Without booting to safe mode windows will display no boot device found upon booting.

1. Open Command Prompt as Admin. (type command prompt in search box, right click and select run as admin)

2. Copy and paste this line:

bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal

This would force windows to start in SAFE MODE.

3. Restart and go into BIOS, change IDE to AHCI mode.

Note: Upon restart, you need to press specific keys to enter BIOS, the most common key is ESC, DEL , F1, F2)

Locate the SATA mode on the BIOS and change from IDE to AHCI. Save changes and exit.

4. Now again open COmmand Prompt as ADMIN and copy and paste the following command to deactivate Safe Mode .

bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot

Then restart and now you are all set.
